Made for Biology. Title: Cell System.

Originally a solar system project, I remastered, and redesigned it to be a cell. Most of the project I made, but some of the models were taken from here. I reused the orbiting code, but made most of the textures and placed all of these objects down in Unity. I think it's cool to explore a cell like this, even if it's not fully 100% accurate.

Controls:

Click on planets to look at them, right click to return to the Nucleus.

Each part's color:

Nucleus, dark blue

Nucleolus, black

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum, purple

Ribosome, pink

Centrosome, orange-ish

Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum, bright yellow

Golgi Apparatus, cyan

Mitochondria, red

Lysosome, green

Cytoplasm, the background

Chromatin is inside the nucleus so you can't see it, and I was unable to do the cell membrane & flagella/cilia.

Functions:

Nucleus, houses the DNA

Nucleolus, makes RNA

Rough ER, works with ribosomes to make proteins

Ribosome, makes proteins

Centrosome, spin the mitotic spindle

Smooth ER, making lipids and detoxifying

Golgi Apparatus, packages and distributes proteins

Mitochondria, forms ATP

Lysosome, recycling/waste treatment

Cytoplasm, supports the parts of the cell

Chromatin, Structure of DNA and proteins

Cell Membrane, confines the cell parts

Flagella, swimming

Cilia, moving things around the cell and swimming

Why I chose this medium:

Because I think it's fun to do this and cool to see. Plus it can be easier to imagine the parts of a cell when you see them in a 3d space.
